What I do with your information.
Written in plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not much use to anyone.
The short version
If you message me, I get your name, email and what you wrote, and I use it to reply to you. That is it. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared for marketing, there are no tracking cookies on this site, and I do not run advertising pixels.
Who is responsible
This site belongs to RiverWood, a sole trader business run by James Killingsworth, based in Redditch, Worcestershire. For anything on this page, contact hello@riverwoodai.com. Under UK GDPR I am the data controller for the information described here.
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, your email address, an optional note about what your enquiry concerns, and your message.
That information is sent to my email inbox so I can reply. It is not saved to a database on this website. The message travels through Resend, the service that delivers the email, and then sits in my mailbox with Microsoft 365 in the same way any other email you sent me would.
The lawful basis is legitimate interest: you have asked me a question and I need your details to answer it. If you would rather not use the form, my email address and phone number are on the contact page and work just as well.
When you use the AI readiness check
You give it a website address. The tool fetches that page publicly, the same way a search engine would, scores it, and shows you the result.
The address you entered and the results are not stored. Refresh the page and they are gone. Your IP address is held very briefly in the server's memory purely to stop one person running hundreds of checks in a row, and it is not written to a database or used to identify you.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising or social media pixels. There is nothing here counting you.
One small thing is stored in your own browser: if you switch the homepage video between day and night, that preference is remembered locally so the site looks the same next time. It never leaves your device and I cannot see it.
Who else is involved
Running a website means a few other companies handle data on my behalf:
- The hosting provider, which serves the pages and keeps standard server logs
- Resend, which delivers contact form messages to my inbox
- Microsoft 365, which is where my email lives once it arrives
None of them are given your information for their own marketing.
How long I keep things
Enquiry emails stay in my mailbox so I have a record of what was discussed, which matters if we end up working together. If we do not, and you would like me to delete our exchange, just ask and I will.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email hello@riverwoodai.com and I will sort it out. There is no charge and no form to fill in.
If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. I would rather you told me first so I can put it right.
Changes
If this site starts doing something new with data, this page gets updated to say so.
